On an impromptu photography walk, this six-photo series unveils Bozeman, Montana’s dry autumn palette. Through this experience, I aimed to define a sense of place through discovering niches of nature within this mountain-encapsulated city. The glossy finishes of summer months officially passed, making way for an abundance of textures to break through the surface. The smooth mirror reflection of still water contrasted by the soft splash of disrupted water. The sawtoothed pine needles, the coarseness of their acorns. The jaggedness of wooden fence posts dividing gritty soil. There is an organic complexion, a rusticity that shapes the western land when fall makes its descent.
