In redesigning an article layout from Outside magazine, the intent was to create a spread that was visually intriguing and catered to a print format. With one page more ridden with text, and the other denser with illustrations, a demand for balance between written content and image content was presented. Initial sketches were made after building moodboards and viewing other publications. In avoidance of the cooler-tone color palettes common with any type of winter theme, I utilized a primary monochrome palette contrasted by an effective orange-red accent. Throughout the layout, the pop of color highlights the title, hanging quote, and information about the ski models along with the testing each of them underwent.
